Used to indicate position on a surface, or a specific day or date.
The book is on the desk.

Used to indicate a location or position within or inside something, or a period of time (e.g., month, season, year).
The cat is sleeping in the box.

Used to indicate the place, person, or thing that someone or something moves toward.

Used to indicate the point in space or time at which a journey, motion, or action starts.

To a position in or inside something.

Toward a higher place or position.

From one side to the other of (a place, area, etc.).

Moving in one side and out of the other side of (an opening, channel, or location).
We drove through a long tunnel.

Following in time; coming later than a specific time or event.
