Coordinating Conjunctions
對等連接詞用來連接兩個詞性相同、地位對等的單字、片語或子句。
and

Used to connect words of the same part of speech, clauses, or sentences, that are to be taken jointly.
I like coffee and tea.
我喜歡咖啡和茶。
He opened the door and walked into the room.

but

Used to introduce a phrase or clause contrasting with what has already been mentioned.
She is rich, but she is not happy.
她很富有，但她並不快樂。
I want to go to the party, but I have to study.

Used to link alternatives.
Would you like tea or coffee?

Subordinating Conjunctions
從屬連接詞用來引導一個「從屬子句」（不能單獨存在的句子），使其依附於一個「主要子句」，以表達時間、原因、條件等關係。

Later than the time that.

From a time in the past until a later past time, or until now.

Up to the time that.

Despite the fact that; although.
